From the outside, the building is impressive, with its entrance, maintained by two greek pilars. On the wall, on the right in french and the left in khmer, a sentence evokes the power of the ideas . The collection of books, access to public, comes from donations before 1975 and after 1979. In 2009 the scanning of these old books had been finished and let to the readers an inestimable content of curiosities.

Result of a bilateral project between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the French Embassy in Cambodia, the Heritage Mission was created in 2005 within the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. Composed by five architects and one archeologist (Cambodians), the Heritage Mission team ambitions to carry out:
- Inventories, surveys and analysis of urban and religious heritage, based on previous work ;
- Implementation of emergency conservation measures;
- Follow-up of restoration works;
- Communication and awareness-raising actions such as, among others things, the organization of guide tours.
